Family and Medical Leave (FMLA)
The Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a law that protects an employee's job when they need to be away from work for a serious health condition for themselves or a family member. Childbirth, adoption and care for a service member are also covered under this law. The availability of sick and/or annual leave does not affect an employee's eligibility or need to protect their job with FMLA leave. The intent of FMLA is to provide an employee the opportunity to treat their condition or care for their family member while protecting their employment.
