WORKERS' COMPENSATION INSURANCE

Benefits are effective the first day of employment
Eligibility - All employees

All employees are protected against on-the-job injuries or occupational diseases. Benefits include medical, surgical, prescription expenses paid and 66 2/3 of the weekly base salary paid after a 7 day waiting period. Employees are allowed to use annual leave or sick leave to make up the difference in pay to receive a full paycheck. Benefits are paid until the employee returns to work. The university has specific providers for this program. Please report all injuries or illnesses related to your job within 24 hours. If the injury or illness warrants immediate attention, go to the nearest Emergency Room; otherwise, please report to the University Health Center for treatment.

The cost for this program is payroll deducted on a quarterly basis. Contributions for this benefit are $2.00 for employees and $2.30 for the university. Detailed information for this program is available at the NMSU benefits website.
