Holidays and Leave And Sick Leave Bank

HOLIDAYS

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday
  • Spring Holiday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day*
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving (2 days)
  • Winter Break (Christmas Eve Day through New Year's Day)

*If this holiday falls (only) on a Saturday, Friday is observed; if it falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is observed.

Holidays may vary for some departments. Employees should check with supervisors.


ANNUAL LEAVE

Benefits accrue from the first day of employment
Eligibility – All regular employees (excluding 9-month faculty)
(Reference Policy 7.20.25)

Eligible employees receive up to 22 days of annual leave each fiscal year (July – June) or 14.68 hours per month. Employees working less than 40 hours per week will have their leave prorated based on their FTE (full-time equivalency) status. Each July 1st, employees may carry forward up to 30 days (240 hours) of annual leave. Leave is available for usage as it is earned. Supervisors must approve the use of annual leave. Please see your department for leave request and reporting of its use procedures. All leave records and balances are maintained online within the Banner System. If you have any questions regarding the amount of annual that is available to you, please contact your department.

Upon resignation of employment, employees are eligible to be paid for up to 30 days (240 hours) of their annual leave balance at their normal hourly rate.

SICK LEAVE

Benefits accrue from the first day of employment
Eligibility – All regular employees (excluding 9-month faculty)
(Reference Policy 7.20.75)

Eligible employees receive up to 12 days per fiscal year of sick leave or 1 day per month. Employees working less than 40 hours per week will have their leave prorated based on their FTE (full-time equivalency). Each July 1st, employees may carry forward up to 100 days (800 hours) of sick leave. Leave is available for use as it is earned. Please see your department for leave request and reporting of its usage procedures. All leave records and balances are maintained on-line within the Banner System. If you have any questions regarding the amount of sick that is available to you, please contact your department.

Upon resignation of employment, employees are eligible to receive payment of sick leave if their balances are between 600-800 hours at ½ of their hourly rate. The maximum amount of hours payable is 200 hours.


SICK LEAVE BANK

Benefits paid after all requirements met
Eligibility – All regular employees (excluding 9-month faculty), enrolled in LTD with 2 years service

The sick leave bank is available to all regular employees with at least 2 years of service, who are enrolled in the long term disability plan and earn sick leave. Membership in the bank is optional and requires donating a specified number of accrued sick leave days. A member who experiences a catastrophic medical emergency is eligible to apply for withdrawal of sick leave from the bank if the member has insufficient leave balances to cover the length of time the employee will be out of work. Enrollment in the Sick Leave Bank program is available once a year each July. More detailed information and enrollment procedures are available below.
