RE: Open Enrollment Deadline – October 31, 2013
Open enrollment for medical/prescription, dental and vision benefits will end October 31, 2013. Enrollment will take place via the NMSU benefits website at http://benefits.nmsu.edu/enrollment/annual/. A video presentation is available for viewing through the enrollment page, as well as copies of the presentations and handouts provided at the October 2nd meetings.
If you do not wish to make any changes to your current medical, dental and/or vision plans, you do not need to do anything at this time.
The state Risk Management Division (RMD), the state office that administers the medical, prescription and dental plans, has confirmed there will not be any changes to the plans as of January 1, 2014, except as listed below:
- Premium Rate Changes scheduled for July 1, 2014 – all medical premiums will increase 10%.
- The NM HIP, high deductible plan with optional HSA will no longer be available to NMSU employees effective January 1, 2014. All current participants in the NM HIP will be required to enroll in another medical plan through open enrollment or lose their existing coverage as of January 1, 2014.
- The prescription plan through Express Scripts/Medco will have a single calendar year deductible of $50 and a family calendar year deductible of $100 for non-Generic medications.
- The acupuncture and chiropractic benefit has been combined for a total of 25 visits per plan year.
Please note that a change in premium costs mid-year (for July 2014) is not a qualifying event and enrollment changes will not be allowed. If you anticipate wanting to change your health coverage due to increased premiums, you need to make change during the current open enrollment period through October 31, 2013.
The state of New Mexico Risk Management Division is requiring marriage certificates and birth certificates or legal adoption and/or custody papers for addition of any dependents to medical and/or dental plans.
All changes made through the online enrollment are effective January 1, 2014.
