RE: Final Reminder – Informational Meetings Medical/Prescription/Dental Plans
NMSU employees are encouraged to attend one of the informational meetings scheduled October 2, 2013 to learn about changes to medical/prescription and dental plans effective January 1, 2014. Registration is not required to attend a meeting, but space is limited. This year will be an open enrollment for medical/prescription, dental and vision plans.
Representatives from the medical/prescription and dental carriers will be presenting information on their respective plans and changes for the 2014 plan year. The sessions will be broadcast live on the web through Adobe Connect. Information regarding meeting times, connecting via the web and enrollment options is available on the Enrollment website at http://benefits.nmsu.edu/enrollment/annual/.
Please Note: The NM HIP, high deductible plan with optional HSA will no longer be available to NMSU employees effective January 1, 2014. All current participants in the NM HIP will be required to enroll in another medical plan through open enrollment or lose their existing coverage as of January 1, 2014.
If you do not wish to make any changes to your medical, dental or vision benefits, you do not need to do anything at this time.
The state of New Mexico Risk Management Division is requiring marriage licenses and birth certificates or legal adoption and/or custody papers for addition of any dependents to medical and/or dental plans.
RMD is also requiring all employees who previously submitted proof of dependency via 1040 tax form to provide marriage licenses and birth certificates or legal custody and/or adoption papers for all covered dependents. NMSU Benefits Services will be contacting you in the next few weeks to secure the required documents. NMSU employees are encouraged to begin looking for or requesting certified copies of such documents in preparation. If you are unable to find your marriage certificate or your children’s birth certificates, you can contact the courthouse in the county where the event took place for a copy of the necessary information or direction on how to obtain that information. You may also be able to obtain birth records and marriage licenses by visiting www.vitalchek.com or www.vitalrec.com.
If you wish to drop dependents, in lieu of providing proof of dependency, you must drop the dependent through the open enrollment process.
Enrollment/change deadline is October 31, 2013. All changes made through the online enrollment are effective January 1, 2014.
