General HR Training

Below is a listing of courses offered under the General HR program. There is a brief description of each course and a link to view training dates and register for the training. If you are interested in a specific course, you may click on the link below to take you directly to that course.

Benefits Orientation

During this 3 hour session, new employees will be provided with general information on policies and procedures, specific information on employee benefits and options, and other services available to regular NMSU employees. This session, facilitated by HR Services Benefits Services, will also provide the new employees with information on the standard probationary period, holiday schedule, annual leave and sick leave program, pay process for employees, NMSU retirement program, and the workers compensation program. New employees will also be given the opportunity to select their desired benefits carriers and complete the appropriate enrollment forms. Click here to Register for Benefits Orientation

FMLA Workshop

The Family Medical Leave Act is a law that gives employees the right to take leave for certain medical conditions without fear of being disciplined. Supervisors and employees each have different responsibilities related to FMLA. This 2 hour workshop, facilitated by HR Services Benefits Services, will help you understand the basics of the Family Medical Leave Act and University Policies and Procedures involved with family medical leave.

This is an interactive workshop with information on your rights and responsibilities under FMLA. Employees, supervisors, and management are encouraged to attend.Click here to Register for FMLA Workshop

Graduate Health Orientation

This 1.5 hour session, presented by HR Services Benefits Services, will orient graduate assistants to the limited benefits offered to graduate student employees and the associated enrollment options and deadlines. Graduate Assistants enrolling in this benefit for the first time are required to attend the orientation. Click here to register for Graduate Health Orientation

Leave Policies

This interactive 2 hour session, presented by HR Services Benefits Services, focuses on leave that a regular employee at NMSU is eligible for. It addresses leave policies such as annual and sick leave, leave for jury duty, excess leave policy, leave without pay, prorating annual and sick leave, the Family and Medical Leave Act, military and compassionate leave, leave for internal interviews or university services, and the sick leave bank. All levels of employees, supervisors, and managers are encouraged to attend this facilitator led training. Click here to Register for Leave Policies

Workers Compensation Workshop

This interactive 1 hour session, presented by University Health, answers your questions on what to do if injured on the job. In addition to reports that need to be filed for medical vs. non-medical claims, this session addresses where to go for medical treatment, use of medical records, lost time while injured, insurance coverage, modified work assignments and return to work policies.
