Purpose of Classification:
The Associate Provost reports to the Executive Vice President and Provost with the primary responsibility of leading the development, implementation, and management of accreditation, assessment, strategic planning and strategic partnerships through collaborative efforts across the New Mexico State University system.
Standard Duties:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
University policies and procedures; State and Federal Laws as they relate to education, research, funding, personnel management among others; principles and practices of organization and administration; principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation; Broad familiarity with higher education and accreditation in the United States.
Strategic and tactical planning; complex problem analysis and resolution; public contact and relations; sensitive oral and written communication.
Ability to direct, evaluate, guide and lead the work of assigned personnel; develop and maintain effective working relationships; negotiate with others on proposals and programs as they relate to the academic success of the institution; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities; analyze and evaluate information.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Ph.D., other doctoral degree or Terminal post-baccalaureate degree. Credentials sufficient for tenure in an academic department at NMSU preferred.
   Experience- Administrative experience with emphasis in the areas of accreditation and assessment, preferably at a community college or other institution of higher education.
