Purpose of Classification:
Responsible for working with the Marketing and Communications office to create and implement a short and long term plans that will serve NMSU University Advancement, which serves the entire NMSU system. Review and evaluate procedures as they pertain to specific advancement/alumni programs. Develop policies and procedures and implement policies and procedure updates. Serves as liaison and works collaboratively with the University Advancement office to implement appropriate policies and procedures as it relates to compliance of agreements, guidelines and laws. Responsible for articulating organization’s desired image and position, ensure consistent communication of image and position throughout the organization, and ensure communications of image and position to all constituents, both internal and external. Communicate with both donors and university employees regarding the impact of dollars to help in composing, appraising and producing marketing and publication materials. Research and follow-up on donor gifts and gift allocations for editorial design and production of materials related to giving for impact and solicitation. Responsible for project management of many internal and external University Advancement publications, marketing materials and other communications projects.
Standard Duties:
Serve as liaison with donors in partnership with the Marketing and Communications office and external partners. Work with and have access to confidential donor information and handles it in a sensitive manner. Responsible for developing a communications plan to effectively communicate across all media regarding the impact of dollars. Develop impact stories that highlight students and/or donors. Utilize multiple media, including social media, to communicate with various constituencies and generations. Appropriately recognize donors through stewardship activities and communication vehicles. Responsible for overseeing all release of information on donors and gifts to maintain donor confidence and confidentiality. Responsibilities also include oversight of various social media platforms operated by the Alumni Relations Office and updating various NMSU Alumni Relations websites.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the University’s mission, vision and goals. Knowledge of best practices as it relates to stewardship and advancement communications. Knowledge of social media tools.
Short and long-term planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; interpersonal and organizational communication, both oral and written.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities. Ability to communicate with donors, orally and written on multiple levels. Ability to hire, train, supervise and motivate staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
