Purpose of Classification:
Reporting to the Dean of Students, position is responsible for advancing the mission of student engagement and community building by identifying strategies to create and sustain optimal environments and experiences that foster students' development and life-long identification and commitment to the university; and for developing a plan to identify and enhance programs and services for special populations. Position shares responsibilities for developing and sustaining partnerships and collaborations across campus to promote student learning in and out of the classroom.
Standard Duties:
Manages departments that provide student learning and development opportunities: Campus and Community Student Services, New Student Programs, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, and oversee a variety of student services within the Dean of Students Office. Coordinates special committees, allocates resources and collaborates with other units and campus programs within the scope of Student Affairs mission. Responsible for learning and development of students outside the classroom. Coordinates with campus constituencies and community leaders in developing and managing co-curricular learning and service opportunities. Works with the Student Affairs staff, student groups and other members of the university community in developing extracurricular programming assuring integration with the academic life of the institution and encouraging student personal growth and development. Helps establish a student culture where diversity is encouraged and where students learn to respect differences, take responsibility for their actions, and exercise leadership. Provides leadership in and is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and regulations pertaining to student life. Responsible for developing a plan to identify and enhance programs and services for special populations across campus i.e., commuter students, graduate students, other constituent populations, (i.e., commuter students, graduate students, other constituent populations). Serves as a member of Dean of Students senior management team. Serves as ambassador for College with alumni, parents, students, neighbors, community leaders, and professional colleagues. Represent the Office of the Dean of Students to other administrative and academic units in developing policies as assigned by the Dean of Students. Submit progress reports, operating changes, and/or procedures when necessary and on a regular basis, including ongoing evaluation of programs and activities. Supervises professional and support staff. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
managerial leadership in Student Affairs. Knowledge of supervision and development of professional staff and graduate students;
Demonstrated skill in program planning & implementation; assessment and evaluation; emergency preparedness and crisis intervention.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Master's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
