Purpose of Classification:
Responsible for one or several broad-based areas within Academic Affairs under the direction of the Provost.
Standard Duties:
Facilitates resolution of faculty and student issues, coordinates academic initiates among he community college campuses, chairs the General Education Course Certification Committee, liaison to the NM Higher Education Department, and is the Provost's representative on the Associate Dean's Advisory Council. Also assists with Human Resource functions including review of faculty search processes. Position serves as signature authority when the Provost is off campus and handles special assignments from the Provost and President.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
University policies and procedures; State and Federal Laws as they relate to education, research, funding, personnel management among others; principles and practices of organization and administration; principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
Strategic and tactical planning; complex problem analysis and resolution; public contact and relations; sensitive oral and written communication.
Direct, evaluate, guide and lead the work of assigned personnel; develop and maintain effective working relationships; negotiate with others on proposals and programs as they relate to the academic success of the institution; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities; analyze and evaluate information.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Academic qualifications that would merit appointment as a tenured faculty member (e.g., credentials; publication and teaching record) in a discipline represented within the University.
   Experience- Three years of progressively responsible academic administrative experience, including direct faculty supervision experience, that included developing and communicating equity-minded decision making, inclusive excellence, and student success initiatives.
