Purpose of Classification:
The Associate Dean of the Library assists in the development, administration, and promotion of the Library and its programs.
Standard Duties:
Assist the Dean with the administration, and evaluation of the Library and the programs it encompasses. Supervise and evaluate assigned personnel. Responsible for assisting in the development and/or administration of budgets in areas of supervision. Seeks and pursues/motivates others to pursue potential sources of funding for the Library. Serve as liaison between the Library and the university community, community agencies, businesses and other groups, advisory committees, state and national groups. Reports directly to the Dean of the Library.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the University's mission, vision and goals.
Excellent communication skills, ability to listen to new ideas and to respond in a timely manner to faculty, students and staff. Demonstrated skill in working effectively with personnel conflicts and concerns. Demonstrated ability to administer in a fair, thorough and thoughtful way.
Ability to solve problems and deliver difficult messages in a sensible way. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to establish and maintain a high degree of personal and departmental integrity and openness with students, faculty and staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Earned terminal degree in a directly related discipline and tenured or tenurable at the rank of professor.
