Purpose of Classification:
Under the general supervisor of the Chief Audit Executive and/or senior auditor assists with and/or conducts operational, governance, compliance and/or financial audits, investigations, special projects and management advisory services for the university system.
Standard Duties:
Participates in developing audit program, procedures and objectives. Help ensure audit objectives and scope are appropriately defined and communicated. Works as part of the audit services team to conduct basic audits. Assists with initial and follow-up audit engagements and/or special projects in accordance with professional standards and ethics. Participates in all phases of audit engagements, including planning, fieldwork, review, and reporting. Documents work performed, develops audit results/findings. Assists with and/or prepares and presents results of audit work and recommendations to management in the form of oral and written communication. Coordinates and interacts with administrators, faculty, and staff, and with external audit and law enforcement agencies, as needed; may be required to testify in court; may be required to interact with university students and alumni, and vendors doing business with the university. Handles sensitive, confidential information dealing with students, employees, and vendors. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of auditing concepts and principles and best practices. Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and university policies and procedures.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Software and other application skills to quantify and illustrate results including, not limited to, financial reports, comparisons, impacts, and/or projections. Demonstrate sound professional judgment, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making skills to recognize problems and propose solutions.
Ability to conduct interviews, investigate, analyze data, document results and draw conclusions in a professional, comprehensive, clear, concise and organized manner. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to build effective client relationships and effectively communicate information regarding the audit process and results. Ability to utilize electronic resources including audit management applications. Ability to analyze processes and make recommendations for improvements. Ability to persuade and influence others. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
   Experience- No previous work experience required.
