Purpose of Classification:
Responsible for developing, administering and monitoring the compliance system for maintaining institutional control for the school's athletics program.
Standard Duties:
Monitors the determination of student-athlete eligibility for financial aid, initial and continuing academic eligibility, and other playing and practice season eligibility issues. Formulates policies and procedures to be used within the Compliance department to ensure adherence to all NMSU, NCAA and WAC rules and regulations related to student-athletes. Educates coaches, staff, student-athletes, and campus constituents on all athletic compliance rules; provides NCAA interpretations to all coaches and athletic advisors, and serves as primary contact for the NCAA and WAC conference offices on compliance matters. Provides leadership, coordination, and operational support in the execution and submission of all student-athlete rule violation investigations to the WAC Conference Office or to the NCAA. Provides day to day management of the Athletic Compliance Department, including budget, personnel, and operations. Supervises compliance staff including work allocation, training, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Academic Performance Program for NCAA student-athletes. Knowledge of NCAA academic and behavioral rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards for student-athletes. Knowledge and understanding of NCAA and WAC compliance standards and reporting requirements. Knowledge of budget management and fiscal control principles and procedures. Knowledge of financial aid policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements. Knowledge of NCAA rules concerning student-athlete eligibility, recruiting, and financial aid. Knowledge of university admissions policies, standards, and procedures. Working knowledge of NCAA Compliance Assistance software.

Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
