Purpose of Classification:
Oversees men's athletic programs. Responsibilities typically include scheduling of and contracting for athletic events, employment and direction of athletic coaches, publicity, ticket sales, and equipment and facilities maintenance. May also have responsibility for intramural athletic programs and other additional management responsibilities.
Standard Duties:
Sport Administrator. Deliver management guidance and leadership for men's sports, solving concerns and issues related to facility, hiring practices, salary, budget, hosting championships, academics, legislative capital outlay, personnel, recruiting, and game. Provides quality educational services that achieve academic, personal and career success for all student-athletes. Monitor daily operations functions of assigned building facilities and evaluate current deferred maintenance schedule. Provides supervision and administrative oversight for special programs to ensure each student-athlete will have the opportunity to excel in their experience as students and athletes. Coordinate housing list for incoming freshman and returning student-athletes by working with coaching staffs. Handle disciplinary issues and concerns housing has with student-athletes. Act as point of contact for administration, coaching staff, dean of student's office, judicial affairs office and student-athletes regarding social misconduct issues or concerns. Acts as point of contact for Event Control Management. Develop, change, interpret and implement department policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques. Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Advanced knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles, methods, and techniques within a prescribed area of professional specialty.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Employee development and performance management skills. Program planning, development, implementation, and leadership skills. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Ability to develop and implement funding strategies and programs. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment within a complex partnership/organizational structure. Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional staff and clientele in the field. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
