Purpose of Classification:
Oversees assigned athletic programs. Responsibilities typically include scheduling of and contracting for athletic events, employment and direction of athletic coaches, and work cross-functional with appropriate offices, publicity, ticket sales, and equipment and facilities maintenance.
Standard Duties:
Sports Administrator. Deliver management guidance and leadership for assigned sports, solving concerns and issues related to facility, hiring practices, salary, budget, hosting and participation in championships, academics, legislative capital outlay, personnel, recruiting, and game management. Monitor daily operations functions of assigned facilities and evaluate current deferred maintenance schedule. Provides supervision and administrative oversight for special programs to ensure each student-athlete will have the opportunity to excel in their experience as students and athletes. Acts as point of contact for Event Control Management. Develop, change, interpret and implement department policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques. Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Advanced knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles, methods, and techniques within a prescribed area of professional specialty.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Employee development and performance management skills. Program planning, development, implementation, and leadership skills. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Strategic planning skills.
Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial and operational data and prepare business reports, projections, and recommendations. Ability to develop and implement funding strategies and programs. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment within a complex partnership/organizational structure. Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional staff and clientele in the field. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
