Purpose of Classification: | |
Serves as the Athletics Equipment Director for New Mexico State University and all 16 intercollegiate athletics programs. Coordinates and maintains gyms and/or other sports facilities as appropriate. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Supervise and coordinate athletic equipment room operations including the size and issuing of equipment to student-athletes ensuring safe and proper fit of all equipment, equipment bidding, purchasing, and maintenance and repair of all equipment. Manage inventory of athletic uniforms, equipment and supplies. Coordinate the maintenance, cleaning, and storage of athletic equipment including operation and maintenance of the athletic laundry facility. Administer athletic department shipping and receiving. Supervise, plan and prepare equipment set-up and take-down for practice, scrimmages and games for the sport of football. Direct, schedule, and train graduate assistants, student workers, and interns. Position is required to travel to all away football games and is responsible for the coordinating athletic equipment operations for away football games including the packing and transportation of equipment. Maintains accurate and up-to-date inventory records for all 16 sports. Develops efficient methods of issuing, collecting and storage of athletic equipment and apparel. Keeps records of sizing and equipment issued to individual student athletes for reconciliation at end of year. Participates in an annual inventory of the equipment room and athletics facilities. Develops laundry schedule to facilitate game and practice schedules while providing laundry services including, but not limited to laundering loops, uniforms, and towels for all athletics programs. Reconciles all shipping and receiving of equipment and apparel adhering to prescribed athletics procurement procedures. Inspects deliveries for proper quantities and to see that it conforms to prescribed specifications. Follows University and athletics guidelines in the purchase of all equipment and services. Reviews and verifies correctness invoices for payment. Ensures compliance with all NCAA and rules relating to equipment operations | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
• Knowledge of athletic, mechanical, and electronic equipment, supplies, and/or uniform repair. • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control. • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control. • Knowledge of university accounting procedures involving procurement, travel, and/or employment. | |

Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- High School diploma or GED certificate. | |
Experience- Five (5) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined. | |
Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience. | |
