Purpose of Classification:
Analyzes performance and instructs student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition; observes players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement; and coaches players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques.
Standard Duties:
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Assists head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition. Assists with the design of workout programs and training routines to improve athletic performance. Assists as directed with implementing and supervising athletic training, strength, and conditioning workouts; provides technical support and training to athletes, as appropriate to the sport. Conducts recruitment of student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules through scouting, attending tournaments, and home visits. Oversees and coordinates one or more specified areas of a sporting discipline and/or a component of a team, as appropriate to the sport being coached. Assists head coach in monitoring and assisting student-athletes in academic progress. Assists in the overall coordination of the relevant sports program. Represents the sports program to various institutional entities and externally to media, government agencies, students, parents, and the general public. Assists as appropriate in planning and arranging team travel; may coordinate personnel and equipment transportation and accommodations. May perform administrative duties including ordering and maintaining equipment, monitoring budgets, and initiating correspondence.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Short- and long-term planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; interpersonal and organizational communication, both oral and written.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree
   Experience- Two (2) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Substantial directly related experience may substitute for degree required.
