Purpose of Classification:
Serves as chief financial officer for the Athletic Department. Typically responsible for day-to-day operations, budget planning and reporting, contracts, human resources and information technology.
Standard Duties:
Manages daily operations of the athletics department; directs, supervises, and coordinates all facets of the athletic programs. Promotes and develops excellence and competitiveness in intercollegiate athletic programs while adhering to the bylaws and/or resolutions of the appropriate governing associations. Initiates, coordinates, and participates in all program planning, development, and implementation of policy and procedure. Oversees all aspects of human resources administration; provides liaison with human resources, affirmative action, and union officials; chairs department personnel committees; resolves disciplinary problems; evaluates performance and recommends personnel actions; represents department at union negotiations and grievances; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Directly supervises some internal operations department heads and assists in providing leadership, development, and direction for the department. Oversees all aspects of the financial operation of the department through both state and foundation accounts, including annual budget preparation, analysis, and implementation, financial statements, and external audit. Oversees all internal accounting, including property acquisition and control, all bids and contract negotiations, cash receipts from sports, special events, and facility usage, accounts payable and receivable, grants-in-aid, trade-out utilization, fund transfers, travel, and Bus operations of the athletic ticket office. Represents the organization at various community and/or Bus meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of Bus practices and procedures. Knowledge of standard and/or fund accounting principles, methods, and applications. Knowledge of facilities and asset management methods and procedures. Knowledge of cost analysis techniques. Knowledge of rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics. Knowledge of university and/or public auditing policies, standards, and procedures. Knowledge of accounts payable procedures and practices. Knowledge of accounts receivable procedures and practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
