Purpose of Classification:
Direct all aspects of performance training for 17 men's and women's sports programs to include assisting student- athletes.
Standard Duties:
Supervises, directs, delegates and evaluates work of assigned staff. Assists in the hiring process of new employees. Designs performance training programs for 350+ student-athletes progress, including injury/reconditioning status. Manages and facilitates scheduling of training times for 17 sports; coordinates and evaluates input from sport coaches and athletic trainers. Emphasizes nutrition and proper conditioning. Directs the activities of staff responsible for maintenance and repair of equipment ensuring a safe working conditioning environment. Participates in fund-raising events as needed to support the mission of the program by making special appearances and encouraging others to meet goals. Performs related duties as required by the Athletic Director, Head Coach of sports programs and Assoc Athletic Director of Men's Athletic Programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of university, departmental, WAC and NCAA policies and procedures; principles and practices of organization and administration; principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation; sports administration of management; scientific foundations of exercise science; applied science of exercise; computer systems management; both hardware and software and home page; mechanics of all facility related items.
Skills in short-and long range planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; public contact and relations; research methods.
Ability to direct, evaluate, train and supervise the work of assigned personnel; communicate effectively in written and oral form; develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct several activities; analyze and evaluate information; operate a computer.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree
   Experience- Five (5) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- None
   Certifications/License- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification upon hire.
