| Purpose of Classification: | |
| Provide timely, efficient, and safe operation of aircraft to fulfill mission objectives. | |
| Standard Duties: | |
| Serves as Part 91 pilot in command of multi-engine aircraft to transport passengers and/or cargo to accomplish operation objectives. Maintains aviation logs and flight reports and writes reports and organizes communications to ensure smooth and efficient operation. Determines routing, intermediate stops, alternate destinations, fuel requirements, estimated flying time, and files flight plans for all flights. Obtains proper clearances for each flight. Adheres to flight procedures specified in the aircraft flight manual; communicates and coordinates with controlling agencies; monitors performance of the aircraft and progress of the flight, including the use of emergency procedures as required. | |
| Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
| Federal Aviation Regulations Parts 1, 61, 91 and 135. University and department policies and procedures; FAA regulations regarding operations; professional aviation concepts, principles, and techniques; systems and hardware. Knowledge of aircraft and flight department management concepts and procedures. | |
| Night and instrument flight; flying multi-engine turboprop aircraft; public contact and relations; problem analysis and resolution. | |
| Communicate effectively in oral and written form; use independent judgment and initiative; qualify for a Class II Medical certificate: develop and maintain effective work relationships; organize and evaluate information. | |
| Minimum Qualifications: | |
| Education- High School diploma or GED certificate. | |
| Experience- 4000 hours total flight time in fixed wing aircraft. 1000 hours multi-engine time in a professional work environment. 500 recent Pilot in Command hours in King Air aircraft. | |
| Equivalency- Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services. | |
| Certifications/License- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Multi Engine Land rating. Current second class medical certificate. | |
