Purpose of Classification:
Manages and coordinates the integrated nursing operations of an outpatient clinic providing nursing and mid-level critical care services in a specified area of clinical specialty. Oversees the supervision of patient care provided by a diverse team of nursing and ancillary staff. Ensures adherence to unit protocols, university policies and procedures, Federal and State legislative and regulatory requirements, and accepted clinical nursing standards and practices.
Standard Duties:
Performs psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, treatment, follow-up, consultation, and mental health education. Obtains patient histories and develops patient care charts, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Provides health education to students, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups, within area of specialty. Administers a specific health care activity, as appropriate. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements. Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories. Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical/psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise. Knowledge of health education theory and practice.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Master's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Three (3) years of professional experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- None
   Certifications/License- Nurse Practitioner Certification CPR Certified.
