Purpose of Classification:
Responsible for coordinating the daily operations and activities of the student life function of the residence halls or apartments including, but not limited to community development, residence hall programming, leadership development, staff selection, training, supervision and evaluation, and non-therapeutic crisis intervention. In the absence of the Director, serve as a primary contact for student/parent emergencies, student affairs and student life related issues.
Standard Duties:
Hire and train, supervise full and part time staff; provide professional development opportunities. Direct the development and advising of student groups, oversee departmental programming events. Coordinate behavior management program, oversee judicial aspects of behavior. Oversee daily operations related to students, operations, management, and administration. Manage 365 day/24 hours/day on-call system. Serve in back-up duty rotation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of building and facilities maintenance, safety and security. Knowledge of cost analysis techniques. Knowledge of communication principles, marketing techniques, strategies, and processes. Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures.
Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Organizing and coordinating skills. Employee development and performance management skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals. ability to make recommendations for facilities and space allocation issues. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources. Ability to perform facilities audits.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Master's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
