Purpose of Classification: | |
Directs the administration, planning, scheduling, marketing and promotion, and the provision of facilities, technical and other support, to deliver public entertainment events sponsored by the University. Oversees the general management of Pan American Center, including the annual schedule of presented performances and the rental of the facility by various university-sponsored activities and local community performing arts groups. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Provides leadership and direction to Public Events in its management of Pan American Center and as necessary in the delivery of public entertainment events in other University venues. Manages and markets the presented performances by researching, reviewing, negotiating, procuring, and scheduling artists and attractions to fulfill annual calendar of entertainment. Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement. Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; oversees recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of unit staff. Develops and manages annual budgets for the organization and performs periodic cost and productivity analyses. Oversees the overall operations of unit(s) reporting to this position. Plans, develops, and implements strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the organization. Represents the University to various institutional divisions as well as externally to governmental agencies, vendors, students and their parents, and/or the general public. Recommends and participates in the development of University policies and procedures; may serve on University planning and policy-making committees. Assists local community performing arts organizations in planning their events, particularly those held in the Pan AM or other University-owned venues. Creates, implements and monitors a resource development program. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Knowledge of the practices, protocols, and conventions of the entertainment industry. Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques. Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures. | |

Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field. | |
Experience- Eight (8) years of increasingly progressive management experience in one or more areas that report to this position. | |
