Purpose of Classification: | |
Supervises and administers activities of a smaller residence hall or apartment community. Duties include facilitating community and student development, supervision of student staff members, management of lower-level student conduct and discipline, assisting with occupancy and facilities management, and responding to crisis and emergency situations in an on-call capacity. Serves on or assists with departmental committees, as possible. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Supervises or co-supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution. Oversees student resident advisors and ensures compliance with residence hall policies; counsels and trains student resident advisors. Counsels students and, when necessary, recommends disciplinary action; processes contract cancellations for students unable to conform to residence hall policies. Develops educational, recreational and/or social programs and services for student residents; advises and interacts with student organizations and auxiliary service departments to enhance residence life experience for students. Intervenes in student crises such as suicide attempts, drug overdoses, alcohol and drug abuse, and other health problems; provides counseling and/or assessment and referral services; coordinates corrective actions in other emergencies such as physical confrontations or fire and bomb threats. Coordinates housing space and maintains appropriate residence hall records. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |

Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. | |
Experience- Previous live-in student or professional staff experience in Residence Life or Greek Life (i.e. Greek chapter president and/or housing manager). | |
