Purpose of Classification: | |
Performs administrative and supervisory duties relating to all areas of the University Golf Course. Performs skilled manual labor in maintaining the golf course. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Supervises golf course maintenance and remodeling to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications; performs manual labor and operates equipment; plans, schedules, directs, and supervises the duties of all groundskeepers; maintains work schedules, timesheets and records; maintains awareness of University and Departmental Policies, procedures and regulations; supervises project work, survey layouts and grades. Prepare maps and drawings, teaches use of equipment and skills required for golf course maintenance; inspects plants for disorders and recommends treatments; requisitions supplies and equipment; keeps records and makes reports; performs related work as assigned. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Knowledge of golf course construction and maintenance. | |
Records maintenance skills. Employee development and performance management skills. | |
Ability to install, operate, troubleshoot and repair manual and/or computerized irrigation systems. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Ability to supervise and train assigned staff. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. | |
Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- High School diploma or GED certificate. | |
Experience- Four (4) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined. | |
Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience. | |
