Purpose of Classification:
At will position reporting to the NMSU System Chancellor/NMSU President, serving as a member of the senior staff. Manage matters of institutional importance on behalf of the President and the University. Serving as the President and CEO of the Aggie Development Corporation will be responsible for the oversight, management and development of the university real estate and water assets. Manages special projects with focus and attention to those involving real estate and water assets as well as other matters involving university and community leaders.
Standard Duties:
Responsible for establishing and executing joint vision and strategy for the successful execution of real estate development projects, particularly as it relates to the university’s real estate and water assets. Proactively manage and develop an extensive network of contacts needed within the real estate market. Participation or independent leader on pursuits, assessment and acquisition of development sites and properties. Participates in real estate transactions including negotiations. Participates with senior officials in institutional planning, policy development, and problem resolution. Gathers, investigates, researches, analyzes, and/or studies information affecting University-wide, interdepartmental, or interdepartmental operations. Assists administration in various analyses, projections, reports, and other efforts. Reviews, researches, and recommends new or revised policies and strategies, as appropriate to the area of interest, and prepares reports and other communications on behalf of the President. Meet with constituents and interface with state officials. Serve on state and regional task forces. Make presentations to legislature and industry groups. Serve in advisory capacity to President, Provost, Vice Presidents, and Deans on matters in assigned areas. Plan and lead improvement initiatives as assigned. Serves as one of the senior liaisons with University, and/or community leadership on strategic and operational matters pertaining to university real estate, water assets and other assigned areas. Supervise, direct, delegate, and evaluate work of assigned staff. Manage/oversight of the university Real Estate Manager, who is responsible for routine real estate transactions. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the University’s history, mission, vision and goals.
Short- and long-term planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; interpersonal and organizational communication, both oral and written.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of demonstrated successful property development and/or management experience.
