Purpose of Classification:
Responsible for developing, promoting, implementing and directing the University Foundation's Planned Giving program including the development of comprehensive plans for soliciting and securing major planned gifts.
Standard Duties:
Market and facilitate Advancement's three planned giving programs: NMSU 1888 Society; NMSU Pioneers, NMSU Estate Planning. Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors and donor prospects, especially individuals. Develops comprehensive plans for soliciting and securing planned gifts from individuals, including managing a portfolio of major planned giving prospects. Directs, manages, and oversees the Planned Giving Program, including financial programs, supporting systems, budgeting, revenue, expenditure and asset management, and gift acceptance policies and procedures. Hosts or coordinates periodic seminars designed to provide information regarding planned gifts to relevant stakeholders associated with the University community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of technical, legal, and financial requirements associated with planned giving. Knowledge of prospect research techniques. Knowledge of communications and public relations techniques. Capital/computerized campaign knowledge. Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Analytical and problem solving skills. Employee development and performance management skills.
Ability to plan, organize and implement planned giving programs. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Eight (8) years of increasingly progressive management experience in one or more areas that report to this position.
