Purpose of Classification:
Takes and develops photographs in black-and-white, color, and digitally. Operates computer and camera equipment related to digital photography. Requisitions, stores, and safeguards photographic equipment. Edits, renames, and archives digital images. Produces studio and location portraits. Provides photojournalism services. Familiar with digital imaging and computer programs related to photography.
Standard Duties:
Prepares photographic materials including slides, prints, x-ray reproductions, and videotapes for teaching, presentations, research, and publication. Prepares chemistry and processes and prints black-and-white and color film. Provides technical assistance to the university community regarding photographic needs. Orders supplies and performs routine maintenance on photographic equipment. Maintains records of work performed.May design and produce graphics and slides using computers and imaging software. May provide location services, including documentation of special events and clinical/surgical processes. May provide studio services including portraiture. May supervise and/or lead lower graded staff and/or student employees. May participate in departmental and/or institutional marketing. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of photographic materials, techniques, and media.
maintenance skills. Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Ability to develop and print black-and-white and color photographic film. Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions. Ability to operate and maintain professional photographic equipment. Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School diploma or GED certificate.
   Experience- Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.
