Purpose of Classification:
Directs the activities of KRWG Public Media’s journalists and non-news staff. Manages the acquisition of national programming content. Oversees the development and production of local content. Manages the distribution of content across diverse and developing media platforms. Directly supervises staff involved in programming, broadcast operations and production. 
Standard Duties:
Leads and inspires Content Department staff to collaborate, innovate and perform to the highest creative and professional standards. Sets policy, journalistic and ethical standards for KRWG journalism, programming and related partnership development. Directs planning and implementation of program schedules.  Oversees the development and production of local content. Directs broadcast operations and content distribution on new and emerging media platforms. Responsible for digital asset management, social media initiatives and website content.  Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning for KRWG Public Media. Anchors & Produces local TV & FM programs. Participates in on-air pledge drives, etc. Develops new programming initiatives.  Represents KRWG in the community. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of journalistic editorial and ethical standards. Knowledge of TV, Radio and online content development. Knowledge of news and public affairs program production for TV and FM and online. Knowledge of broadcast news production, writing and editing. Knowledge of the latest innovations in the distribution and dissemination of content including emerging media technology & industry trends. Knowledge of media rights issues and pertinent regulations. Knowledge of public radio & TV news and cultural programming standards and values. Creates connections and leverages resources inside and outside the Content Department for maximum impact.  
Broadcast news production, writing and editing skills.  Digital journalism, including multimedia and social media skills.  Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
Ability to assess content production techniques and the opportunity for creation of value-added content. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long-range goals. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. 
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of increasingly progressive management experience in one or more areas that report to this position. 
   Equivalency- Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.
