Purpose of Classification: | |
Under minimal supervision, installs, operates, maintains, and repairs broadcast, satellite, and transmission systems and equipment. Develops functional and operational test procedures to ensure quality reception and transmission. Maintains documentation as required by FCC regulations and university procedures. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Performs preventive maintenance and major repairs on solid state electronic and broadcast equipment.Makes changes in circuitry, design, and installation to adjust for assembly, maintenance, functions, and/or space requirements. Maintains accurate records, discrepancy reports, test reports, log entries, and other documents as required by FCC regulations and station requirements. Assists in developing standard test procedures and equipment to conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate quality and performance of video or audio reception, production, and transmission. Teaches and trains faculty and students in audio-visual principles, methods, techniques, and equipment operation. Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology and systems to effectively recommend changes, update, and redesign of facilities. May program and install software and hardware for compressed video communication system. May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Knowledge of broadcast systems circuitry, design, and/or installation. Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. | |
Records maintenance skills. | |
Ability to design, install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and/or repair television broadcast equipment. Ability to provide technical training to staff and/or students in area of expertise. Ability to test systems and/or operations in compliance with published standards. | |
Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- High School diploma or GED certificate. | |
Experience- Five (5) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined. | |
Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience. | |
