Purpose of Classification:
Plans and organizes audiovisual and media services provided to the university. Organizes the operation and sound maintenance of facilities requiring sound reproduction. Designs technical and specialized audiovisual systems in response to faculty, student and staff requirements. Incumbents in this classification supervise technical staff in the setup, operation and maintenance of equipment.
Standard Duties:
Supervises two or more full-time employees, or their equivalent, on a regular basis. Makes decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees, or makes related recommendations that are given particular weight. Prepares departmental budget by forecasting labor and equipment needs and submits to supervisor; maintains and monitors departmental budget. Plans and provides technical support for conferences and seminars; orders necessary equipment; assigns staff and estimates costs. Develops new media services and promotes within campus community; develops procedures for new services. Coordinates with media users to determine equipment utilization and design needs; solves instructional problems relating to use of media equipment. Develops procedures and guidelines for day to day departmental operations. May be required to direct live sports broadcasting events. Maintains and updates data used in preparation of various reports submitted to the Director. Submits evaluation and specification reports to Director to determine required sound design changes for facilities requiring sound reproduction. Evaluates equipment repairs and equipment needs pertaining to sound operations; recommends additional equipment and/or modifications if needed; prepares requisition for purchases. Provides technical expertise to contractors, media staff and faculty regarding equipment purchases and installation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of media presentation tools and techniques. Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles. Knowledge of personal computer operating systems as it relates to audio-visual presentation systems.
Skill in media event planning and organization.
Ability to effectively communicate.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Two (2) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
