Purpose of Classification:
Coordinates and monitors program scheduling for university television station(s) broadcasts. Prepares and updates schedules, screens and acquires programs and participates in program promotions. Collaborates with Development and Content to drive social media efforts.
Standard Duties:
Supervises programming/traffic staff. Works closely with KRWG Director of Content to ensure station programming is in alignment with overall station programming strategies. Develops on-air promotional plans for programming in coordination with Director of Content and provides detailed instructions to production. Previews and evaluates local, independent, regional and national television programs to determine appropriateness for station usage. Ensures programs meet technical quality requirements. Participates in program acquisition by recommending suitable programs for purchase. Prepares and updates weekly/monthly program schedule by establishing program availability and determining the best time to air. Responds to viewers’ questions, comments and/or complaints regarding television programming/scheduling. Prepares and maintains various departmental reports for submittal to supervisor such as program evaluations and preparation of audience research information; prepares and responds to various required filings. Coordinates broadcast traffic and logging activities as it relates to program scheduling. Develops alternatives to planned schedule; authorizes last minute changes and replaces material. Participates in the development of station goals, policies and procedures. Works with the KRWG Development Director to evaluate pledge programming; makes data driven decisions when selecting pledge programs. Works closely with Development and Content Departments to develop, support and execute social media strategies. Coordinates and ensures smooth execution of participation in various educational outreach efforts. Appears on-air and in the community for promotions and fundraising. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agencies in broadcasting. Makes decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of broadcasting rules and regulations. Knowledge of broadcast scheduling techniques.
Skill in broadcast program evaluation. Computer skills utilizing ProTrack.
Ability to effectively communicate.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Associate's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Two (2) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- A Bachelor's degree in a related field will substitute for two years of experience.
