Purpose of Classification: | |
This position is responsible for the day-to-day sports information activities for the university. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Maintains, develops and enhances media relationships, writes news releases; researches and prepares background and briefing materials for interactions that university representatives have with the media. Works with the Director to identify news that support key university sports initiatives and messages and enhances and builds the image of the university sports through strategic media placements. Performs other duties as assigned. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Strong writing and oral communication skills required. Working knowledge of publication design and computerized sports statistical compilation. | |
Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills needed. Skill in the use of computers, PC and/or Macintosh computers. | |
Ability to effectively communicate. Ability to complete assignments accurately, with attention to detail. Ability to make effective decisions under pressure and meet specific deadlines. | |
Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field. | |
Experience- No previous work experience required. | |
Equivalency- Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services. | |
