Purpose of Classification:
Writes brochures and articles for publication and/or technical/scientific material for manuals or journals. May assist in the writing aspects of proposal preparation and provide other technical assistance in manuscript writing.
Standard Duties:
Plans, organizes, and formats brochures, articles for publication, or technical/scientific materials for manuals or journals. Plans concepts and performs independent research and investigation in the development of the document. Analyzes researched information for quality of reporting and relevance to subject matter; interprets and synthesizes information into appropriate document. Creates, writes, edits, and prepares copy on a range of subject matters relevant to the general direction of the program. Plans layout of work, arranging sequence of topics and placement of graphics as applicable. Proofreads all copy and makes corrections as necessary prior to publication. Participates in decision-making regarding the general direction, focus, scope, and format of the document. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of electronic journalism and associated applications and programs. Knowledge of journalistic research and investigation principles and techniques. Knowledge and understanding of the underlying issues and concerns associated with the documents being produced. Knowledge of electronic publication procedures and techniques. Knowledge of current and emerging trends and issues within area of expertise.
Analytical skills. Journalistic writing and editorial skills. Skill in developing design and layout of materials to be published.
Ability to create, plan, and develop documents. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Three (3) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
