Purpose of Classification: | |
Provides direct fund-raising services to a single University unit or to the University Advancement Office. Participates and/or provides leadership, in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of fund-raising projects and programs to meet established goals, strategies, and objectives. Personally identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors and prospects. Plans and coordinates projects, programs and activities to increase visibility among internal and external constituencies. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Under supervision, identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and foundations through visits and other forms of direct personal contact. Conducts and/or reviews research to identify prospects and create strategies to match prospects' interests to the priorities of the unit and the University. Either directly, or under supervision, plans and coordinates programs, projects, and activities to increase the visibility of the unit and/or the University among internal and external constituencies, including alumni, corporations, the business community, and others to meet established development goals. Interacts with faculty, staff, development colleagues, volunteers, and external constituents to ensure effective coordination of programs, projects, and activities. Makes effective use of the University's prospect management database and other institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, alumni, and volunteers in coordination with University objectives. Assists in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fund-raising goals and objectives. Under supervision, researches, writes, edits, or oversees the preparation of persuasive, accurate, and grammatically and syntactically correct solicitations, proposals, case statements, reports, correspondence, and other development-related communication materials as required. Provides day-to-day technical and/or professional guidance and leadership as appropriate to the area of expertise. Oversees the supervision of personnel,staff and volunteers, which includes: work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. May develop and manage budgets for fund-raising activities. May represent the unit at business and community meetings. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |

Knowledge of marketing strategies, processes, and available resources. | |
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Records maintenance skills. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. | |
Ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate media activities and special events. Ability to develop and supervise volunteers. Ability to lead and train staff and/or students. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Ability to persuade and influence others. | |
Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field. | |
Experience- Two (2) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined. | |
Equivalency- Equivalency of CFRE Certification may be considered as 1.5 years towards experience necessary for position | |
