Purpose of Classification:
Under direct supervision responsible for supporting communications needs of a designated business group or department. May counsel businesses in developing and executing communications programs which may include product advertising, online presence and social media strategies.
Standard Duties:
Participates in the planning and development of communication strategies at a local, regional, and/or national basis. Participates in the daily planning and execution of communication objectives and goals. Responds to inquiries and researches and resolves problems as appropriate; Interacts and serves as liaison with clients; plans and carries out communications and public relations activities, as appropriate. Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of media principles, procedures, regulations, and standards. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. Knowledge of the college newspaper advertising market. Knowledge of marketing strategies, processes, and available resources. Knowledge of newspaper advertising production principles, methods, techniques, procedures, facilities, and equipment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions. Ability to assess operational requirements and to plan and organize work flow patterns and schedules.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- No previous work experience required.
