Purpose of Classification:
Responsible for strategic vision and daily oversight of the Foundation’s Prospect Management & Research and Records & Demographics teams. Responsible for strategic decision-making to develop an accurate reporting and data analysis structure to help NMSU achieve enhanced fundraising results.
Standard Duties:
Leads and manages Prospect Management and Research functions with all Foundation development staff members. Plans, directs, and oversee operations of Gift Administration to ensure the accurate collection, maintenance, and reporting/dissemination of alumni, prospect, and donor information as appropriate within State and Federal laws as well as University policy and industry standards. Administers technical reviews for data related contracts with divisional program managers for necessary data extracts, imports, feeds, reporting systems and analytical products/tools. Ensures that all gifts are processed in accordance with Federal & State laws as well as institutional policies and educates campus units on proper handling of gifts. Manages all aspects of department budgets and expenditures. Provides strategic leadership, mentorship, and daily direction to direct reports, in keeping with the overall strategic plan of the Foundation and University planning. Makes recommendations to the Senior Associate Vice President concerning complex and/or unique gift processing requirements, serving as the Foundation’s IRS compliance expert. Facilitates the deliberate cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors while providing the research and management tools necessary to work most effectively. Reviews newly proposed University gift agreements for scholarship, endowed, and current use for adherence to institutional policies, CASE standards, and State and Federal laws. Analyzes DO, Prospect Management & Research, and Gifts & Demographics performance to ensure department efficiency and effectiveness.

Ability to apply business rules to organizational practices and provide real-life scenarios for prospect activity data collection, including interactions, stages and forecasting. Able to connect value of data entry to the organization and fundraiser efforts to performance reports. Ability to analyze and present complex data sets. Ability to manage multiple research projects. Ability to lead and guide technical and professional staff in the performance of research. Ability to plan, initiate, direct, and manage major research projects of critical interest to the field. Ability to establish budgets and funding for major research programs. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Eight (8) years of increasingly progressive management experience in one or more areas that report to this position.
