Purpose of Classification:
Under indirect supervision, manages information research projects which support the institution's various development and associated initiatives and programs. Compiles and manages the institution's donor and prospect records. Advises on, coordinates, and/or evaluates a wide range of corporate and individual information/bibliographic research as requested. Establishes and maintains information research services, systems, and resources.
Standard Duties:
Plans and conducts complex information and bibliographic research on corporate, legal, and/or business topics, using traditional and/or advanced electronic research methods and techniques. Establishes, operates, and maintains centralized data bases which effectively support the University's development needs. Screens, analyzes, and manipulates and abstracts research data as appropriate to specific needs of the various client groups. Advises and assists faculty and staff in the application of research data for funding and development purposes and in the identification of funding opportunities. Establishes and modifies information research methods to accommodate the needs of specified faculty, staff, and/or student clientele, as appropriate. Trains and instructs faculty, staff, and students in the use of information retrieval services and automated library/bibliographic search systems. Plans and coordinates the implementation of information retrieval services and programs, such as web sites. Participates in operational planning and policy development related to the delivery of research services. Develops annual operating budgets and provides fiscal direction to the unit. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of web site development methods, procedures, and techniques. Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures. Knowledge of information and bibliographic research principles, methods, and techniques. Knowledge of institutional funding principles, methods, procedures, and resources.
Skill in the strategic use of a wide range of advanced automated library and bibliographic search systems. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to develop, operate, and maintain complex relational data bases. Ability to provide technical instruction in area of specialty.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
