Purpose of Classification:
Manages technical and engineering areas for FM radio station. Operates, schedules, repairs, installs and modifies technical radio and audio production and operating equipment.
Standard Duties:
Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, performs task such as performing preventative and emergency maintenance on all electronic equipment. Performs modifications in circuitry and installation to adjust for system variables and functions to include facility space requirements. Assists in maintaining records and reports as required to document projects and systems installations and maintenance. Follows standardized protocol and procedures and conducts a variety of complex tests on equipment proposed for use in engineering projects; develops procedures for non-standard tests, as required. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems. Designs, implements, and maintains databases using various software applications.Assists engineers in planning and designing construction projects. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of broadcast systems circuitry, design, and/or installation. Knowledge of broadcasting rules and regulations. Knowledge of radio production services and techniques.
Skill in repair of broadcasting equipment. Skill in the configuration and use of computerized database programs.
Ability to test systems and/or operations in compliance with published standards. Ability to communicate effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School diploma or GED certificate.
   Experience- Two (2) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.
   Certifications/License- FCC General Radiotelephone Operator or SBE certification. Driver's license. OSHA tower climbing certification.
