Purpose of Classification: | |
Under direct supervision, generally assists intermediate/senior level Graphics Designers in the layout, design, and production activities to produce quality graphic-design artwork for digital, print and video communication pieces.. Working knowledge of graphic-design equipment is required. May consult and contact in-house or outside vendors to verify print specifications and ensure quality. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Assists on photography projects. Follows guidelines for branded campaign. Produces curriculum, training, and/or promotional materials such as flyers, ads, brochures, logos, office signage, exhibits, and/or displays under direct supervision. Designs and produces camera-ready art including graphs, charts, clip art, posters, digitization of graphics, line-art, and/or photos. Creates electronically-designed page layouts and imports word processing files into page layouts, as appropriate to the position; may develop and produce web-based graphics, as requested. Under direct supervision, produces technical and scientific illustrations for presentations and/or publication, as appropriate to the requirements of the position. May serve as a liaison between the client and printers/publishers. Assists with the printing production process to ensure quality, assists with writing printing and other reproduction specifications (selects ink, paper, and print quality); inspects proofs for accuracy; recommends contractors (typesetters, printers, illustrators, photographers, cartographers). Writes and edits basic copy, as appropriate, which may include press releases in some instances. May coordinate a graphics or photographic library and/or maintain digital records. May provide technical computer support and install software programs. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Knowledge of principles and practices of graphic design. Knowledge of graphic layout and photographic requirements and procedures. Knowledge of printing and/or reproduction processes and techniques. Knowledge of printing procedures and requirements | |
Skills in the utilization of specified computerized graphic design programs. Understand the importance of strong interpersonal skills, accept direction from supervisor and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community. | |
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to create and produce graphic materials using a range of media, methods, techniques, and equipment. Ability to develop print and/or reproduction specifications. | |
Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field. | |
Experience- No previous work experience required. | |
