Purpose of Classification: | |
Under general supervision, provides technical assistance to Transmission and Studio Engineers. Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs broadcast studio, satellite transmit/receive, and transmission systems and equipment. Assists with performing functional and operational testing procedures to ensure quality reception and transmission of KNME-TV/DT products. Assists Engineers with maintaining documentation in compliance with Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Performs preventative and emergency maintenance on all electronic equipment. Performs modifications in circuitry and installation to adjust for system variables and functions to include facility space requirements. Assists in maintaining records and reports as required to document projects and systems installations and maintenance. Follows standardized protocol and procedures and conducts a variety of complex tests on equipment proposed for use in engineering projects; develops procedures for non-standard tests, as required. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems. Designs, implements, and maintains databases using various software applications. Assists engineers in planning and designing construction projects.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Knowledge of broadcast systems circuitry, design, and/or installation. | |
Records maintenance skills. Skill in the configuration and use of computerized database programs. | |
Ability to write reports containing technical information. Ability to test systems and/or operations in compliance with published standards. Ability to design and implement systems necessary to collect, maintain, and analyze data. Ability to assist with designing, installing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and/or repairing television broadcast equipment. | |
Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- High School diploma or GED certificate. | |
Experience- Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined. | |
Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience. | |
