Purpose of Classification:
Under general supervision, responsible for planning, development and implementation of all of the community college outreach and public relations strategies, fund development, and special events planning. Liaisons with colleagues and key constituent members. Directs efforts to develop and implement community activities and events to attract students to the campus, identify workforce needs, and promote continuing education.
Standard Duties:
Plan, develop and implement community college outreach and public relations strategies, fund development, and special events planning. Creates new strategies to increase community awareness and participation with the goal of increasing enrollment and retention of students. Responsible for enhancing college outreach and public relations, fund development and special event communications, establishing and achieving clear-cut goals and objectives. Manages and markets the presented performances by researching, reviewing, negotiating, procuring, and scheduling artists and attractions to fulfill annual calendar of entertainment. Provides leadership and strategy in collaboration with other senior administrators to promote the understanding of innovative programs and projects to the community college, donors, and the community; strengthening and expanding access to public higher education. Serves on designated councils, boards and/or committees and performs other duties as assigned. Recruit students by building relationships with the public schools, businesses, and community that promote the mission of the college.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of prospect research techniques. Capital/computerized campaign knowledge. Knowledge of communications and public relations techniques. Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Employee development and performance management skills.
Ability to plan, organize and implement major gift programs, special events and public relations outreach efforts. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Master's degree in a related field
   Experience- Five (5) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
