Purpose of Classification:
Produces program segments for multimedia distribution; produces and anchors programming as assigned.
Standard Duties:
Produces program segments by scheduling, interviewing, writing, conducting research and editing. Creates on-air transitions between diverse program elements. Takes transmitter readings and adjusts transmitter power. Responds to calls from listening/viewing audience. Cues and starts recorded materials; maintains proper volume levels and monitors off-air transmissions to ascertain quality of sound reproduction. Operates broadcast control room origination equipment including microphones, sound mixers, audio recorders/reproducers and monitors. Documents the broadcast program log to maintain an accurate record of all transmitted materials noting discrepancies and deviations from scheduled program material. Pre-records program materials from external network sources for future broadcast. Participates in on-air membership campaigns by requesting individuals to send contributions to support the station. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Federal Communications Commission's regulations and rules governing broadcast operations of radio stations.
Skill in broadcast writing. Skill in the pronunciation of foreign and technical names, places and titles. Skill in operating electronic broadcasting control and production systems. Skill in speaking clearly, diction and voice modulation.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School diploma or GED certificate.
   Experience- No previous work experience required.
