Purpose of Classification:
Leads all development related activities for the College, in addition to formulating and implementing a development plan to complement the strategic plans of the College and the University. This position will provide fundraising leadership, working closely with the University development team, the Alumni Association, and all volunteer leaders. Most importantly, this person meets the College's development revenue goals to empower the execution of the Dean's overall goals for the college.
Standard Duties:
Communicate vision, goals and accomplishments to a broad base of constituents. Develop and execute a strategic development plan in partnership with the College and New Mexico State University leadership to secure a broad base of enhanced and sustainable support from individuals, corporations, foundations and other revenue streams. Identify, cultivate, solicit and secure major gifts of $100,000 and above with major emphasis on gifts $500,000 and above and principal gifts of $5,000,000 and above. Coordinate and leverage donor solicitations with the University's development office. Design and direct all fundraising initiatives to align with the College's strategic priorities including: annual giving programs, donor cultivation and appreciation events, capital campaigns, planned giving, corporate and foundation giving events, and award's receptions. Conduct analysis of and organize additional institutional advancement activities on behalf of the Dean. Engage in university-wide initiatives to further strategic development initiatives. Communicate the College's vision, goals and accomplishments to alumni. Develop a strategy that allows the College to build, grow and sustain an engaged alumni network that can be leveraged for development purposes. Cultivate strong bonds with alumni, students, and donors. Collaborate with The New Mexico State University Alumni Association to assist with the development and management of all events and activities. Recruit, train and inspire alumni leaders and volunteers to, ultimately, enhance fundraising. Engage students to establish a foundation of support and loyalty to the College for future development opportunities beyond graduation. Oversee the day-to-day operations for the College's development function including supervision of staff. Foster innovation, strategy and teamwork with the College team and the University-at-large development team. Manage and improve the College's database, donor acknowledgment and tracking,follow up and collections. Closely partner with New Mexico State University marketing and communications' leader to effectively communicate to targeted audiences and constituencies. Oversee timely reporting and analysis of financial goals and performance metrics. Design and manage an innovative stewardship program with a dedicated stewardship team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Fundraising with a proven record of success in securing major gifts.
Skilled collaborator who enjoys cultivating trusted relationships with peers at the University and with external stakeholders. Strong written and persuasive verbal communication skills. Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex information to foster problem solving and decision-making.
Ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and foster long-term relationships. Take a proactive approach to donor identification and relationship management. Perform with high integrity with desire to do what is right for the University-at-large. Be a hands-on team member with discipline to follow up and follow through on promises. Timely and fairly make decisions utilizing sound and accurate judgment. Lead with initiative to enhance thought processes and leveraging legacy practices. Present a professional demeanor to successfully present and negotiate.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field
   Experience- Five (5) years of directly related professional experience.
