Purpose of Classification:
Will work collaboratively with the VP of University Advancement / Foundation President, AVP for Stewardship and other key staff to oversee, coordinate and manage the activities of all NMSU Advancement and Foundation Boards, Committees and subcommittees. Develop a communication and engagement strategy to ensure that the goals and objectives of the university are met. Responsible for analyzing, development of strategies, planning and implementing board programs and events as well as the subcommittees. Key role in communications with the President, Provost and Vice President’s offices to ensure coordination of schedules for board members, high profile prospects and/or donors. Oversees and manages events for the Presidential and Vice President for Advancement. Oversees donor relations related to board, high profile prospects and/or key donors and stakeholders.
Standard Duties:
Provides support to the multiple boards and committees. Responsible for, but not limited to, developing complex agendas, executing and implementing member acquisition, retention and services. Develop professional relationships with board members, university administrators, high profile prospects and/or donors to ensure effective time management without reducing important feedback with the goal to improve relations. Keep board members informed of key activities and events related to NMSU to allow board members opportunities to respond appropriately. Work with President and Vice President of Advancement to develop key University and donor recognition events such as dinner with the Governor, Honorary Degree events, campaign event dinners and/or reception and the like. Manage complex schedules for key prospects/donors coming to NMSU to ensure that they interact with the appropriate students, faculty, deans and/or administrators. Ensure that activities meet the mission, vision and goals of the University and Foundation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Requires a high degree of confidentiality and a thorough knowledge of fundraising operations, board relations, donor relations and positively represents University Advancement to multiple audiences. Knowledge of non-profit board dynamics; thorough knowledge of fundraising operations and systems.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and comfort interacting with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. High level of initiative and independent thinking is required. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications; proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint; Raiser’s Edge and i-Modules. Skill in examining operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Employee development and performance management skills.
Ability to interact with prospects/donors with high capacity and not easily deterred. Ability to manage a board portal for multiple boards. Ability to maintain appropriate records and bylaws for boards and subcommittees. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops. Ability to work on multiple projects at one time.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
   Experience- Five (5) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
