Purpose of Classification:
Under general supervision, performs moderate level carpentry duties necessary to construct and maintain building woodwork such as bins, counters, shelves, benches, stairs, doors, and windows.
Standard Duties:
Participates in maintenance, repair and installation duties in the trades. Works from drawings or verbal instructions and uses a variety of carpentry hand and power tools. Repairs high grade articles of furniture such as cabinets, chairs, store fixtures, and office equipment. Repairs loose or broken joints. Replaces damaged veneer. Performs the carpentry necessary to cut and shape parts of furniture. Operates hand saw, mortiser, drill press, wood lathe, and related woodworking equipment. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Estimates time and material costs on carpentry projects and requisitions new carpentry materials and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials common to the trade. Knowledge of all applicable codes standards and regulations.
Skill in installation, repair and maintenance of all systems and assignments common to the trade.
Ability to effectively communicate.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- None
   Experience- Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.
