Purpose of Classification: | |
Under general supervision, responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repairs of plumbing systems and fixtures. Requires the ability to understand and work from blueprints and specifications. Knowledgeable of uniform plumbing codes. Frequently reports to a Maintenance Supervisor. | |
Standard Duties: | |
Installs, repairs and maintains chilled water, steam, heat, water, gas, drainage, sewage and other plumbing systems. Operates reamers, threading discs, sewer tapes, pipe cutters, snakes and other plumbing equipment and hand tools. Inspects joints, valves, pumps, boilers, heaters, sinks, commodes, tanks, valves and other plumbing system components to locate malfunctions and repairs or replaces when necessary. Studies plans, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs and/or installations. Performs preventative maintenance work as required. | |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | |
Knowledge of steam, water, natural gas, fire hydrant, fire sprinkler, and waste water distribution systems maintenance and repair. | |
Skilled in the installation, maintenance, and repair of steam, water, natural gas, fire hydrant, and waste water distribution systems. | |
Ability to perform preventative maintenance according to published guidelines. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. | |
Minimum Qualifications: | |
Education- High School diploma or GED certificate. | |
Experience- Two (2) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined. | |
Equivalency- None | |
Certifications/License- NM Journeyman Plumbing License or NM Journeyman Gas Fitter License. A valid NM Drivers License is a requirement for the job. | |
