Purpose of Classification:
Monitor, Control, Maintain and repair boilers, chillers and related equipment.
Standard Duties:
Monitors, controls, maintains and repairs boilers and related equipment such as piping, turbines, steam and electric feed water pumps, deaerators and control valves. Monitors, controls, maintains and repairs chillers and related equipment such as water pumps, valves, check valves, piping, heat exchangers, regulators, electric and pneumatic controls and gear boxes. Maintains and repairs demineralizers and related equipment such as tanks, pumps, ejectors, valves, timers, regulators, electric and pneumatic controls and piping. Maintains and repairs cooling towers and related equipment such as chlorinators, venture injectors, safety valves, fitters, meters, strainers, diffusers, gear reducers, water pumps, electric and pneumatic controls and valves, relays, regulators and flow meters. Monitors and controls campus wide building automation systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of boiler and chiller repair and maintenance techniques.
Skill in the application of boiler and chiller repair and maintenance techniques. Knowledge and skill in computerized building automation systems.
Ability to effectively communicate.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- High School diploma or GED certificate.
   Experience- Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.
   Certifications/License- Receipt of valid New Mexico B01/B02 boiler operator’s license within nine (9) months of hire date. Valid unrestricted driver’s license.
