Purpose of Classification:
Under general supervision, performs skilled maintenance and repair services of facility systems such as mechanical, electrical, and building systems. Duties may increase in scope as the employee becomes more skilled, but the primary emphasis is the performance of a variety of maintenance tasks rather than a high degree of skill in any particular trade. Frequently reports to a Maintenance Supervisor.
Standard Duties:
Performs scheduled visual inspections of indicated equipment in university buildings; Records all corrective action required for planned maintenance; Inspects and notes quality of maintenance performed; Conducts spot checks on serviced equipment to verify work completion; Inventories and tags newly added and replacement equipment; Reviews architectural and shop drawings for location of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in university buildings; Prepares and issues emergency maintenance instructions to appropriate staff; Inspects newly installed equipment for compliance and adherence to plans and specifications; Inspects wells, pools humidifiers and cooling towers for required chemical water treatment; Conducts vibration tests on equipment to determine condition.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of proper functioning of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment.
Skill in planning and inspecting for a preventative maintenance program.
Ability to effectively communicate.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- None
   Experience- Five (5) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.
