Purpose of Classification:
Performs building interior and exterior finish repairs including concrete, wall framing, dry wall, brick, plaster, and flooring. Repairs or installs other structural materials, such as hardware, decks, suspended ceilings, and windows.
Standard Duties:
Repairs or installs wood or metal frame walls, sheet rock, insulation, flooring, suspended ceilings, windows, foundations and finish concrete. Repairs or installs other miscellaneous hardware including shelves and cabinets. Places structural concrete such as plaza decks and sidewalks, and repairs spalls, cracks, and joints. Repairs or constructs CMU or poured-in-place walls, retaining walls, and concrete block and brick walls and facades. Repairs or installs exterior stucco finishes and plaster; replaces interior plaster finishes, floor tiles, and pavers. Assists in roofing repairs as required. May participate in replacement of carpeting or other floor coverings. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the University's mission, vision and goals.
Carpentry, building repair, and/or finish plaster and concrete skills. Concrete installation and repair skills. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Masonry repair and installation skills. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
   Education- None
   Experience- Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
   Equivalency- Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.
